Walks The Valley of Stone is a project that includes an exciting heritage walks programme, which intends to promote greater awareness and understanding of Rossendale’s rich quarrying heritage. The first walk will be a 3 to 4 mile route northwards from Bacup (3 to 4 miles) Meet Bacup Market Place, at 1:30pm (start point 14) Sunday, 19th July 2009 - ROSSENDALE WAY - TROUGH EDGE END Ascending to the Rossendale Way, north past the highest point of Rossendale's eastern ridge. Valley side farmland return. (7 miles) Meet Guide Marrian Tattersall outside Shawforth Chapel, off Market St, Shawforth., at 12:30pm (start point 16)
